CAC & MPS Released Provisions on Simplified Personal Information Protection Measures for Small Personal Information Handlers
On July 24, CAC and MPS jointly released the Provisions on Simplified Personal Information Protection Measures for Small Personal Information Handlers. The Provisions establish simplified compliance measures for eligible small personal information handlers while maintaining applicable requirements relating to lawful handling, individual rights, sensitive personal information, and information security. The Provisions apply to personal information handlers in China that handle the personal information of fewer than 100,000 individuals and will take effect on September 1, 2026.
