MIIT Releases the Development Plan for the Information and Communications Industry under the 15th Five-Year Plan
On Sept 7, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the Development Plan for the Information and Communications Industry under the 15th Five-Year Plan. The Plan sets priorities for the sector through 2030, including the development of 5G-Advanced and 6G, optical and satellite networks, computing infrastructure, the industrial Internet, artificial intelligence, and integrated space-air-ground networks. It also promotes digital applications across industries, expanded connectivity in underserved areas, greener data centers and network infrastructure, and stronger network and data security. Follow-on measures, pilot programs, and technical standards may further shape market opportunities, infrastructure deployment, and compliance requirements for companies operating in or supplying China’s information and communications sector.
