MIIT Launches Special Action to Cultivate AI Application Service Providers
On Aug 31, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the Notice on Launching a Special Action to Cultivate AI Application Service Providers, establishing an implementation framework under China’s broader “AI+” initiative. The Action aims to develop a national pool of AI application service providers with capabilities in technology development, system integration and delivery, security and compliance, and operational support, targeting more than 2,000 providers by the end of 2026 and at least 3,000 by the end of 2027. The Action also calls for greater support for standardized and replicable AI solutions, application pilots and demonstration projects, computing and data resources, and cross-sector service teams, while emphasizing cybersecurity, data security, ethical governance, and business compliance throughout AI development and deployment. For companies, the Action signals growing policy support and market opportunities for providers offering deployable, secure, and sector-specific AI solutions.
