SAC Publishes 2016 National Standardization Work Priorities

On February 15, the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) published a Notice on 2016 National Standardization Work Priorities. The Notice outlined four priority areas for 2016:
  • Promote standardization system structural reform;
  • Implement "standardization plus" strategic action;
  • Accelerate internationalization of national standards;
  • Enhance standards development infrastructure.
Within the four-part framework, the Notice included 68 detailed work priorities, including: 
  • mandatory standards clean-up 
  • recommended standards optimization and pilot programs
  • association standards cultivation 
  • nation-wide implementation of enterprise product and service standards self-disclosure system
  • 13th Five-Year-Plan for technical standards innovation and commercialization 
  • guiding documents of "Internet Plus" standardization 
  • standardization in strategic emerging industries, such as integrated circuits, big data, cybersecurity, robotics, green materials 
  • energy-saving and emission-reducing standardization projects and green manufacturing standards drafting 
  • incentive systems for participation in international standardization work 
  • Standardization Law revision and coordination, with the aim to submit for State Council review by June
