SAC and MIIT Announce High-End Manufacturing Standardization Pilot Work

On July 17, the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) jointly issued an announcement launching pilot work on national high-end manufacturing standardization, with the aim of building upon existing manufacturing standards development and accelerating the implementation of the China Manufacturing 2025 strategy.

Specifically, the pilot work will focus on the following five areas:

  • Promote standardization and technological innovation: select enterprises will work with innovation zones to help commercialize innovations, and research and develop standards
  • Build a strong and healthy standards system: with an emphasis on advanced manufacturing, select enterprises will participate in national standardization work, developing modern enterprise standards
  • Promote standard implementation: focusing on energy efficiency, environmental protection, security, and other compulsory standards, select enterprises will help ensure the effective implementation of standards
  • Promote Chinese standards abroad: select enterprises will help China's high-end manufacturing standards gain traction abroad and in international standards bodies
  • Strengthen support for standardization work: select enterprises will support the standardization effort by participating in a standardization comprehensive service platform

The pilot work is open to high-end manufacturing enterprises involved in China's New Industrialization Pilot Zones, and preference will be granted to enterprises with relatively advanced levels of standardization and advanced technology. Application details for participation in the pilot standardization work are available in the SAC notice.
