President Trump Visits China

President Trump visited Beijing as part of his five-country Asia trip. After a private tour of the Forbidden City on Wednesday, President Trump and President Xi Jinping presided over a signing ceremony on Thursday where USD 250 billion in deals were announced. Several of the deals were non-binding memoranda of understanding. 29 business leaders travelled with President Trump as part of a business delegation.

President Trump told business leaders inside the Great Hall of the People that China “must immediately address the unfair trade practices that drive,” but that he does not blame China. In a press briefing where reporters were barred from asking questions, both Presidents mentioned North Korea, but did not announce any major shift in policy. President Xi commented that“The Pacific Ocean is big enough to accommodate both China and the United States,” and that China will not close its doors to foreign investment.
