MIIT Policies Aim to Spur Growth of SMEs

On May 5, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) hosted a "Small and Medium Sized Enterprise Informatization Press Conference" in Beijing, bringing together officials from MIIT's key divisions, regional government representatives and dozens of Chinese companies to discuss how MIIT's core policy initiatives in 2015 can help spur the growth of SMEs.

Director-General Zheng Xin of the MIIT SME Division provided a three-point overview of MIIT's future engagement in the SME sphere in 2015:

  • Accelerate the pace of smart manufacturing: implement "China Manufacturing 2025", supported by China's industrial Internet policy and by secure and controllable software solutions.
  • Implement the "Internet Plus" Action Plan: develop open source software solutions, 3D printing technology, "maker spaces," and crowd-sourcing and crowd-funding technologies.
  • Improve the overall conditions for innovation and start-ups.
