First VR Industry Standard Announced

On April 6, 2017 CESI hosted an event to announce the release of the first Chinese VR industry standard. The standard focuses on Head-Mounted Displays (HMDs) and lays out details for stereoscopic imagery, interpupillary distance, field of view, resolution and display methods. The Chief Engineer of MIIT, Zhang Feng, said that the hardware market is still in its initial stages and that the released industry standard should be used for continued development, production, testing, and experimenting. This standard was developed with the help of the Industry of Virtual Reality Alliance and it’s six founding members-- Google, HTC, Oculus, Samsung, Sony and Acer.
