China Concludes Central Economic Work Conference

China wrapped up its annual Central Economic Work Conference held on Monday through Wednesday of this week. President Xi Jinping led the meeting which was attended by party, central and local government, and military representatives. 
 
In the meeting, which sets the tone for the next year’s economic policy, participants concluded that high-quality development is the "indispensable foundation for sustainable and healthy economic development". This aligns with the Chinese government’s extended focus on social and environmental issues. 
 
During the meeting, government officials also confirmed the need to further open to overseas markets and continue the overall process of opening up, in addition to further perfecting relevant policies related to foreign investment and protecting intellectual property rights.
