China Announces Export Controls for High Performance Computers

On July 31, the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and the General Administration of Customs (GAC) jointly announced export restrictions for two items: unmanned aircraft and high performance computers (relevant standards and procedures available here). This policy will take effect on August 15 and is aimed at protecting national security.

According to the announcement, the "computer" part in the Catalogue of Dual-Use Items and Technologies Subject to Import and Export License Administration issued on June 30, 2015 will no longer be effective.
