SNS Games to Be Under Regulation
Sources said that the General Administration of Press and Publication announced regulatory measures over SNS games in December 2009. Many SNS game markers began to apply with the GAPP for registration of their game products. Previously, both GAPP and the Ministry of Culture (MOC) concentrated on large online games, while various types of SNS games were not put under supervision. MOC has issued a circular to leading SNS game makers, requiring those planning to operate online games to obtain a permit before beginning their operations. New Call Rates Scheme Implemented for Mobile Phone Users
MIIT and National Development and Reform Commission issued a circular jointly, announcing that from the first day of the new year, a unitary rate scheme will be adopted for mobile phone long-distance calls, eliminating the need to pay local call charges. The circular, issued on December 11, 2009, was titled the Circular on Lowering the Long Distance Call Rates of Mobile Phones. China Mobile Builds B2B E-commerce Network
China Mobile announced last week that it would deliver 5 services to enterprise customers, including online procurement, enterprise procurement, hotel booking, ticket booking and procurement information release, and roll out a brand new electronic commerce platform --- E-commerce network JOY. Currently, China Mobile has established a unified centralized procurement system within the group, and at the same time, completed the construction of an advanced B2B E-commerce system covering over 300 partners, achieving a total procurement volume of over RMB 75b. China Mobile Announces 4G Terminal Bid Winners
China Mobile announced that Alcatel-Lucent, Motorola and Innofidei have been chosen to be on the shortlist of vendors for the TD-LTE data card terminal R&D project for the Shanghai World Expo. To meet the needs of the TD-LTE experimental network service demonstration at the Shanghai World Expo, China Mobile Shanghai branch launch the bidding procedures for choosing the first batch of vendors to participate in the R&D project. According to the plan of China Mobile, the TD-LTD demonstration network will be built at Shanghai World Expo, demonstrating the 4G evolution technology level. China P&T Appliances Merged
China P&T Appliances, a Chinese large mobile phone distributor, has been merged into China General Technology (Group) Holding, Limited (Genertec), according to an announcement issued by the State Council State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission on January 4. After the merger, which was approved by the State Council, China P&T Appliances becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary of Genertec. SAT: 100 Cartoons Enterprises Enjoy Tax Incentives
The State Administration of Taxation said that among 303 candidate cartoons enterprises applying for accreditation, 100 enterprises have been accredited and can enjoy preferential tax rates. The accredited cartoons enterprises can handle necessary formalities with the tax authorities for enjoying lower tax rates in VAT, corporate income tax, operating tax, import duties. U.S. Software Maker Sues Chinese PC Maker
A foreign media report said that Cybersitter, a U.S. software maker, lodged an action against China and seven PC makers on Tuesday, accusing them of inappropriately using the codes of its content filtering software. Cybersitter said China copies its software codes and improperly use them in the Internet filtering software sold across China, and thus claimed a compensation of USD 2.2b. The seven PC makers sued include Sony, Lenovo and Toshiba. This case involves China’s Green Dam software. SolidOak, patent company of Cybersitter, said in June last year that Green Dam software is suspected of plagiarizing its software codes. Chinese Text
