2009-11-13

TD-SCDMA mobile technology users are expected to exceed 100 million in two years, Yang Hua, Secretary General of the TD-SCDMA Industry Alliance, said.

Hua was speaking at the 2009 Sino-Japan TD-SCDMA Collaboration Conference. TD-SCDMA enables the rapid spread of telecommunications to thinly populated areas, and the broad transmission bandwidth also provides access to the Internet.

The TD-SCDMA Industry Alliance currently is working towards promoting TD-SCDMA cooperation between the two countries.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, since trial operation began on Apr 1, 2008, TD-SCDMA users have surpassed figure of 1.2 million.

It is reported that the 2nd phase of TD-SCDMA has been completed and the service has been provided in 38 cities, while the 3rd phase of construction is going on in order to make the service cover 238 cities by the end of this year. Relevant TD-SCDMA services, such as video phone, MRBT, video conference, etc, are presently being offered by China Mobile.

Since the 1st half of 2009, global influence of TD-SCDMA is surging along with more investment in equipment R&D and industrialization, higher hardware integration level and improved performance of devices.(Source:c114.net)
