USITO/Amcham Shanghai Joint Event: China's Green Dam Internet Initiative
8:00 – 9:30 AM, September 18, 2009 (Friday)
AmCham Shanghai Conference Room (上海美国商会会议室)

On May 22nd, 2009, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued a circular titled “Notice Concerning the Computer Pre-installation of Green Internet Filter Software”, mandating that all personal computers sold in China must be pre-installed with the “Green Dam – Escort of the Youth Flowers” (GD-EYF) software from July 1st, 2009.

Despite the fact that implementation of Green Dam was delayed by the MIIT four hours before the official start of the mandate, the recent Green Dam issue in China has been a concern to most American companies in China. AmCham Shanghai’s IT Committee and the United States Information Technology Office (USITO) are pleased to invite you to an event with USITO President Dr. John Chiang to dicuss this issue.

Dr. Chiang will review the chronicle of events surrounding the Green Dam issue, discuss the Chinese government’s Internet regulation policies and answer your questions surrounding these issues.  This event is off the record.
